First steps

Before You Begin

  • Ensure you have access to either PoE or a 5V USB-C power source.
  • Prepare up to four RS485 lines you intend to connect.

Physical Setup

  1. Place the RSpell unit in its intended location.
  2. Connect your RS485 lines to the device.
  3. Connect power using PoE or USB-C.

First Power-Up

  • Verify the device powers on and stays stable.
  • If PoE is present, it takes priority over USB-C.

Device configuration

Press and hold the configuration button while powering on the device and enter to Control Center. Wait for the device to boot up and connect to configuration web on port 80.

1) Static ip address

You can use http://static.rspell.eu for easy connection via static ip address. Or you can use http://10.10.10.10/ if you do not have a DNS server.

2) DHCP

You can find the device ip address in the DHCP lease table if you have a DHCP server. If not, you can find it via ip address scan. You can use nmap for example for this. Device MAC address you can read on your device case.

Download updates

Use the Control Center to check for available updates and apply them. Only the main OS partition is updated; your feature data remains intact.

Set up feature what you want

Now you can configure the device. Select features you want to enable and configure them. More information about each feature can be found in the Features section.

Configuration import

You can import a saved configuration file to speed up provisioning. After importing, verify network settings and feature credentials before going live.
